Climate change

We are convinced that the climate is changing. This has already happened many times in human history and in the history of the planet itself. In this sense, very real problems such as global drought and reducing groundwater levels are of particular importance. (These are still unsolvable problems – beyond the possibilities of impact by human technology.)

FOOD and water security

Global drought and the decline in groundwater levels are still unsolvable problems beyond the possibilities of impact by human technology. Bulgaria is one of the few countries where it is not due to the lack of water resources, but to their inefficient management. The same goes for our resources related to solving the food crisis. As an example – Bulgaria from a world leader in the production of tomatoes, canned vegetables and greenhouse production, currently imports a large amount of the said products. It is imperative to encourage the revival of our lost leadership positions in this area. The future will be in modernizing and restoring the traditions of farming.

Water and soil are also a huge resource of Bulgaria, which can give it a very important place in the global geopolitics. I am working on a large-scale project to present to the world the resources of our country.

Globalization and global conflicts

The biggest challenges are related to the forced division of the World and the global economy into two opposing socio-economic and political regions – the so-called Global North and the Global South. We belong to the Global North, which corresponds to the so-called Western World. Most countries in the Global South, despite the availability of significant resources so far have maintained a low standard of living, that is – high poverty, dense population, limited educational opportunities and underdeveloped health systems. But now these regions are beginning to become self-aware and overcome many of the accumulated historical mistakes and look for a strong partner who will not only use their resources but also invest in them on the basis of a more balanced relationship. This new drive and new strategy to raise living standards in the global south will become a major economic challenge for the global north, accustomed to high living standards. More limited access to resources will further hamper the already impossible by the laws of the economy and even the usual logic transition to a zero-emission economy.

The failure of the current model, with its inability to raise living standards in large parts of the periphery, cannot be a reason for globalization to be denied in principle.  Rather, it is proof that new ways and models should be sought to solve global problems. New models are needed that do not create severe imbalances and conflicts, but increase the quality of life more evenly.

The transition to Net-Zero Economy and Poverty

Previous slide

Many politicians are trying to make an impossible by the laws of economics and even the usual logic – Green transition. Restrictions and hidden forms of taxation are imposed, which actually only achieve a collapse in people’s living standards.

The availability of cheap and affordable energy was the basis of human progress from the 19th to the 21st centuries. What do we achieve by consciously making it more expensive with purely administrative, not market mechanisms?! We will achieve stagnation and collapse, and this collapse will only generate poverty, not emission reduction. It is necessary not to impose bans on already established and irreplaceable technologies, but to invest in their evolution. Because the poverty of vast regions of the world means only one thing – new wars and pandemics. When a war breaks out, no one counts carbon emissions anymore, and they are enormous in warfare.

Urban development

Smart cities & Smart villages

It is necessary to build a healthier, sustainable and fair urban environment, including concepts such as the so-called 15-minute city – market, park, hospital, school, work – all within 15 minutes walking distance.

But the evolution of smart cities is based on expensive and modern infrastructure. The main problem in Bulgaria’s urban development is that corruption takes the necessary resources to create and maintain such a set of facilities, systems and industries. However, this infrastructure should be in place before restrictions related to private vehicles are proposed or imposed on the public.

The Concept of smart villages is a global modern approach for off-grid communities based on a local lifestyle designed in an independent manner without reliance on one or more public centralized utilities. It aims to release tensions and ease burden on cities by turning the concept into a method of reverse migration. I.e., the return to the villages of more young people, even with occupations suitable for remote work in the IT sector.

Artificial intelligence

It is worrying that the World’s leading scientists and business leaders are defining completely different perspectives for this technological achievement. Some define it as a means that can lead to a three-day week, and others as a major danger to the very existence of the human species.

This reminds of the situation with the dual use of atomic energy. It could simultaneously produce virtually limitless power for man if one day the process of nuclear fusion is mastered, and at the same time it creates these sinister weapons that can destroy life on Earth in a matter of minutes.

In my opinion, at this stage, AI is too focused on social media and serves only as means of controlling human activity, rather than focusing on creating human-friendly services. Ideally AI should take on the annoyance of everyday chores so that a person can indulge in development and creativity, rather than being displaced or even replaced by the machine.

Debt and Finance

Politicians always try to present the increase in debt and the state budget deficit as an instrument for raising incomes, but in fact if this financial resource is not properly directed, it becomes only a tool for generating inflation and reducing the living standards of future generations.

Education

Currently, education emphasizes on the quantity of information and knowledge instead on the quality and experience – for practical application. This leads to a lack of authoritative personalities, i.e. to the lack of personalities with abilities – those who can do it, not only say it.

women in leadership

“The data from the EU shows that women still occupy a small part of the leadership positions.

This in itself is paradoxical given the fact that for over 30 years Europe has been striving to achieve the much-desired democratic and just society. Especially since the world is in an obvious need for leaders possessing determination, consistency, social commitment, diplomacy and, above all, a sense of caring and dedication, all attributes inherent in the female gender.
